DESCRIPTION
Quellan’s Q:ACTIVE® Technology is the first silicon-based solution developed specifically for copper interconnect applications. Integrating Q:ACTIVE components into each end of a copper cable assembly boosts the signal and reduces noise to provide a dramatic decrease in cable gauge and an increase in cable reach - up to three times that of a passive cable. Integrating Q:ACTIVE into linecards, switch cards and backplanes provides dramatic improvement in signal integrity of these interconnects. This allows the use of cost effective PCB laminates while also employing simpler ASICS without complex signal conditioning techniques.
The QLx411GTx is a settable quad driver with advanced protocol support for Infiniband QDR, 40G Base-CR4 (40G Ethernet over copper cable), SAS 2.0+ and other high speed applications. The limiting amplifier/driver provides a large output amplitude to drive an active twin-axial copper cable. In addition, an integrated analog equalizer compensates for frequency dependent attentuation of the PCB traces between the host ASIC and the cable input (such as the SFI channel of the SFP+ specification).
The small form factor, highly intregrated quad design is ideal for high-density 4 lane cable applications. The QLx411GTx driver is also perfectly suited as a laser driver for optical modules. Individual LOS and Tx disable features are provided for active cable and module applications.
